Nurse
More actions
As a Doctor, your primary role is to provide medical assistance to patients at hospitals and clinics throughout Alexandria. This involves talking to patients about their symptoms and treating them for any illnesses they might have. Doctors are employed by the Ministry of Welfare (MOW) and are level 3 employees in the government’s pay system, earning £5 every 15 minutes.
To become a nurse, you first have to sit the exam at Alexandria Hospital and then complete the a brief Nurse Training which will give you all the skills and knowledge you need to succeed as a nurse.
If you are interested in joining the MOW and becoming a nurse, make sure to join the Ministry of Welfare Discord. There is important information available on the forums that will help you study for the exam.
Commands
Doctors have access to important commands that help them do their job:
/mow: Sets your channel to a private one for Department of Health employees./doctor-attend <username>: Teleports you to the patient's hospital or clinic, alerting other doctors that you’re attending to a patient. Use this command only when a patient requires assistance. Abuse of this command leads to departmental termination./health list diseases: Shows a list of diseases with their details and cure names./health list symptoms: Displays symptoms./health symptoms: Shows the symptoms you are experiencing./health temperature: Displays your temperature
Procedures & Protocol
Most of your time spent as a nurse will be treating patients. To make things fair, doctors let their colleagues know that they will be attending to a patient before actually doing so. This should be done in-game in the /mow channel. Most nurse simply say 'me' to claim a patient.
After claiming a patient, you can run /doctor-attend <patient> to teleport to the hospital/clinic where your patient asked for help. You should talk to your patient in the /l channel and take them through to a treatment room to talk about their health. Here you might need to ask the patient their symptoms and temperature in order to properly diagnose them. You might want to use the Conditions and Treatments Guide for help, or you can run /health list diseases in-game to get information too.
Next, craft the cure you need in the cure room and return to your patient to treat them.
Be sure to ask the patient for the price of their treatment before treating them.
To treat a patient you hold the cure in your hand and RIGHT-CLICK on your patient. Don't drop cures and allow patients to self-treat as you wont be able to make a Medicare claim for your payment.
Once that's all done, you can say goodbye to your patient.
Temperature, Elixir levels and Conditions
A normal body temperature is 37. Anything below 33 is cold, and anything above 45 is hot.
A player's elixir level represents how much elixir they have drunk, this can be treated with milk buckets that doctors may sell for £10 to patients.
Conditions represent the injuries and diseases that can be contracted in Redmont. There are many of them and it can be daunting to remember them all. The command /health list diseases is especially useful for listing out all the diseases in Redmont, and even provides information about the symptoms associated with the condition.
The MOW keeps a book of recipes in their cure crafting rooms to help you with remembering which cure you need to craft for each disease. This can also be checked with /health list treatments to see a list of treatments and what they treat. If in doubt over a recipe, you can also use /recipes to check the health recipes.
Rules
Doctors are held to a high standard by the Ministry of Welfare. There is a full Code of Conduct available on the MOWForum which is freely available for the public to look over.
The MOW uses MUST and SHOULD language throughout its policies and guides to help show the responsibilities and obligations of nurses. When a policy uses the word MUST, there is an obligation either ethical or legal to be fulfilled and breaking the policy could lead to serious consequences, including those beyond termination from the ministry. SHOULD is used instead where the policy is suggesting 'best practice', or in other words, policies that might have reasonable justifications for why someone wouldn't comply with them.
