Most jobs require completing an exam at the University. You can get to the university by typing /university to warp directly, or typing /gps university to travel.
These exams include questions from the wiki & will test your knowledge about the details that will be important to your effectiveness. Don't worry, the exams are open book.
Trades are lower-paying jobs that are typically more basic than professions, such as farmers and miners. However, they are very important to the wider economy, so don't discount them! You can only have one trade at a time, and if you want to switch your trade you have to quit your current one and take another exam at /university.

Professions are higher-paying, more specialised jobs that typically require more education than trades, such as jewellers. You can only hold one profession at a time, but you can hold both one trade and one profession at the same time.
