Chefs play a crucial role in the well-being of the Kingdom, as they are responsible for producing our food and supporting many farmers and companies’ income. As a Chef, your primary task is to take crop items and transform them into delicious new foods for players to enjoy. Keep in mind, some of these foods have special effects!

==== What chefs do ====
While your official job is to convert crop items into delectable dishes for players, the world of culinary arts is full of possibilities. In practice, chefs can do much more! For instance, you might collaborate with a brewer to establish a restaurant offering a variety of beverages alongside your meals. You could also supply your culinary creations to other players’ restaurants. If you’re not keen on venturing into the commercial sector, you can set up a rental agreement to operate a food stand on someone else’s property. Get creative, the world is your kitchen!

==== Passed the exam? Now what? ====
Once you’ve successfully passed your chef’s exam, it’s recommended that you either purchase or rent your own plot of land to establish your very own food-related business. If this option doesn’t pique your interest or you lack the necessary funds or land, you can seek employment opportunities through the StateCraft Discord. Join the StateCraft Discord server to explore potential culinary careers.

However, to open your own business, you’ll need to have passed the Entrepreneur exam at the University and register your business with the Ministry of Trade and Finance.

==== How cooking works ====
To view all available items and recipes, simply type <code>/recipes</code> in-game.

Each recipe comes with its specific ingredients, and sometimes you might require containers as well. You can explore the ingredients needed for different recipes, sorted into categories like cooked food, desserts, and beverages. If there’s more than one page, you can navigate by clicking the arrow in the bottom right of the box.

To see the recipe for a specific item, select it from the list. If the recipe contains non-vanilla items, you can click on those items to learn how to craft them. To go back, click the red ‘x’. You can explore more pages by clicking the blue arrows and search for a specific item using the magnifying glass icon on the home screen.

A job in StateCraft allows you to make money, by either making money directly or selling your goods or services to other players. Different job titles have different abilities, perks, and more!

=== Getting a job ===
Most jobs require completing an exam at the [[University]]. You can get to the university by typing <code>/university</code> to warp directly, or typing <code>/gps university</code> to travel.

These exams include questions from the wiki & will test your knowledge about the details that will be important to your effectiveness. Don't worry, the exams are open book ;3.

One of the first things you should do is get your first job! You can do this by going to our University by entering <code>/university</code> in game.

We have three main categories of jobs:

# Trade - these are considered manual labour jobs with not many special perks.
#* They are good for beginners who want an easier starting off point. Many allow you to gather resources easier to sell or to craft into other items.
# Professions - these jobs build on trade jobs by having more advanced or special perks.
#* This could be specialised crafting recipes or plugin features.
# Government - you cannot get a government job immediately, but after around 24 hours of in-game playtime a lot of players apply for these jobs on our forums.
#* Government jobs will provide wages, and many also have additional commission based pay.

At any given time, you can have two trade jobs, one profession, and unlimited government jobs!

When you join StateCraft for the first time, you start with a solid £1200 to get you started. While it’s a great amount to start with, it won’t last forever in Alexandria. To keep earning money, you’ll need a skill or a job. Here’s how you can get started:
